That’s the function of venture capital and private equity investing, in a nutshell. In a course covering VC and PE (as they’re known in the industry), you’ll learn how to analyze and evaluate potential investments, conduct the various steps in the investment process, and how investment exit strategies are developed and implemented. This is the ideal skill set for those looking to shape the future. What can we say? Money talks.
Example project you may work on
Your client is a large global philanthropy. They have traditionally achieved social impact through writing cheque donations to non-profit organisations in the education sector. They are looking to change their model to achieve both financial returns as well as social impact in order to achieve long-term financial sustainability for their fund. They therefore want to base their new model of investment on the Venture Capital & Private Equity model - and thereby become a ‘Venture Philanthropist’.
The 4th industrial revolution will require that Management Consultants adapt to various environments and situations extremely rapidly. Students who take my class will develop a solid consulting toolkit and the confidence to tackle any business problem presented to them.
iX Winter is an intensive learning experience designed to help you make the most of your winter break.
For the first week, you'll focus primarily on picking up new industry-relevant skills at a rapid pace. The second week, following a weekend break, will focus primarily on a social impact project that you can add to your resume and discuss in job interviews.
Unlike many other online programs, you'll have support from your teachers and teaching assistants throughout the day so you're never stuck on a problem for too long.
"iXperience was a one-of-a-kind learning immersion. I gained experience and knowledge in ways I never had before. I can now say that I have incredible new skills and have used what I learned to make an impact at a startup company in Cape Town."
The iX programs cover the exact combination of learning and experience that is not offered in a traditional college classroom until upperclassman years. If you are interested in finance, this is the perfect and only opportunity as an underclassman to learn new skills and apply those at real financial services companies or projects.
iX helped me to understand and gain the skills that are required to enter the financial industry. Beyond just the skills, with the incredible teaching team who was always there whenever we needed help, I learned more about myself too.
iX was a great experience coming from a liberal arts background to get into the more technical aspects of finance that I can’t learn at school. The program was excellent in helping me fill gaps as well as prepare me for a future career in the finance industry.
